Assess Your Current Confidence

Take 5 Minutes to Reflect:
Answer the following questions honestly to understand your current confidence level. Write your responses in a notebook or save them digitally.

  1. On a scale of 1 to 10, how confident do you feel when speaking in:

    • One-on-one conversations?
    • Small groups or team settings?
    • Large audiences or public speaking scenarios?
  2. What physical or emotional sensations do you experience when preparing to speak? (e.g., sweaty palms, racing heart, self-doubt).

  3. What are your biggest fears or concerns about speaking? (e.g., forgetting your words, being judged, losing your audience).

  4. When was the last time you felt proud of something you said or presented? What made that moment successful?

  5. What do you want to achieve through improved confidence? (e.g., clearer communication, professional growth, stronger relationships).

Simple Confidence-Building Exercises

Exercise 1: The Power Pose (2 Minutes)

  • Stand tall, place your hands on your hips, and take deep breaths.
  • Hold this pose for 2 minutes before speaking or presenting. Research shows this boosts confidence and reduces stress hormones.

Exercise 2: The 30-Second Self-Introduction

  • Record a short video introducing yourself and sharing one unique fact about you.
  • Play it back and note your tone, body language, and energy.
  • Ask: “Does this reflect the confidence I want to project?”

Exercise 3: Reframe Your Fear

  • Write down one fear about speaking (e.g., “I’m afraid people will judge me.”).
  • Reframe it as an opportunity: “This is my chance to share something valuable.”
  • Practice repeating this reframed thought daily.

Exercise 4: Daily Affirmations

  • Write and repeat a confidence affirmation each day. Example:
    • “My voice matters, and I speak with clarity and confidence.”
